To state the obvious : it ’s not easy to grow in clay soil . It ’s dense , does not drain well — unless it ’s on a side , and then everything runs off . It can be impossible to dig out , and , without some amendments , may not let us to implant .
It ’s not all high-risk word , but you do have to outsmart it .

My first gardenwas on a massive clay down payment — much denser than anything my neighbors had to fight with — and it was a struggle to get the garden make .
