Woody plants give four seasons of beauty with little work

Today ’s exposure fall from Anne Price :

My name is Anne , and I live in Quebec , Canada , Zone 5 . My main interestingness is trees and shrubs with four - season interest , which I highlight with perennials and some annual . I desire you delight these photos . They are from different times during the growing season and are a mix of front and back garden .

A Nipponese maple ( Acer palmatum , Zones 5–8 ) steal the show here , with fresh spring foliage in the bright shadowiness of green .

Another Japanese maple , with the new leafage just unfolding in the spring . The overbold leaf is ting lightly with red . Many plant have young growth flushed with a red color in the spring . The red pigment act as an antifreeze to help protect touchy unexampled growth from late outflow frost . As an added bonus , it is very beautiful !

The bluff folio of a hosta line attractively with the delicate maple foliage .

A rich diversity of color , texture , and forms , provided primarily by foliage . The accent on trees and shrubs also makes this a modest - maintenance garden .

A spectacular flowering tobacco plant ( Nicotiana sylvestris , yearly ) . This species can strive 5 to 6 feet tall in the right conditions , with huge sheer foliation and long , spectacular , fragrant white flowers .

A wide view of the garden , show what an unbelievable variety of plants Anne has in a very small area . You do n’t necessitate Acre and landed estate to have a beautiful , interesting , diverse garden !

Flower heads of oakleaf hydrangea ( Hydrangea quercifolia , Zones 5–9 ) .
