How often does a garden writer get to use the wordspee - pee , poopyandwormsat the web site of a well-thought-of on - line publishing ? Once . I promise . This will be my sole channeling of my inner third - grader , at least for a while .
But first some ground .
I ’ve just retrovert home from the Garden Writers Association ( GWA ) Symposium in Raleigh , North Carolina , were more than 650 garden communicators cumulate for educational session , garden tours , networking , product showing and perspire in 90 - degree , 4356 % humidity . ( Good thing I brought my 55 - Imperial gallon drum of baby pulverization . )

What a diverse group ! GWA is comprised of professionals work in all medium — the WWW , newspapers , magazines , television , radio and picture taking . During my five days in Raleigh I lapped up educational talks , ogle beautiful garden and jawbone with more hoi polloi that I can treat .
I also slogged through the ubiquitous greenish - industry swap show with the lovely and talented Kate Frank , my editor at o.k. Gardening . Perhaps you ’ve seen the first of our video efforts titled “ What Did You pour down In Your Garden This class ? ” There are more video blogs in the works , including interview with the vender at three of the stall that catch my centre .
This is the first in a three - article series . As they say in Raleigh , “ Y’all occur back , ya hear ? ”

Bovine Biscuits Get A New Lease On Life
“ When animation gives you lemons , make lemonade . ” That is the inwardness of one of the exhibitors that Kate and I shoot the breeze .
Darn , now I have to delicately bridge the idea of lemonade and cow manure . Well , there you go . I guess I just did !

Cow Pots are the brainchild of one Mr. Matt Freund , recently the subject of the sometimes - shockingDirty Jobstelevision show . Matt and his brother , Ben , run a dairy farm in Connecticut . Embodied in their product are a few simple truth :
1 . If you want your diary Bos taurus to produce milk you have to fee them .
2 . If you prey them through the north - face end , the cows produce an odiferously unsavoury by - Cartesian product from the Confederacy - confront end .

3 . If you have a bunch of dairy farm cattle , you have a Herculean electric pig challenge .
4 . There are only so many environmentally acceptable way to get rid of said by - product .
But what if you could exempt yourself of this messy ooze and make a few Pearl Buck at the same fourth dimension ?

moo-cow Potsto the rescue , in their colorfully cute cow - adorned promotion . You probably already know what peat smoke are — gamy - fiber , low - fat containers made from compressed sphagnum moss . Now imagine the same idea using moo-cow manure that ’s been processed , pasteurized and pound into odorless newspaper - like pulp . Then it ’s shape into 3 - column inch and 4 - inch straight pot . The material looks something like an eggs carton , only , um , how do we put this … browner .
You fill the container with your own potting soil , plant seeds or cuttings , expect for them to settle and when it ’s clock time to set them out , you just slap the whole kit and caboodle into the soil . As the works grows , the throne decomposes and the roots expand into the grunge . What could be dewy-eyed ?
How many times have you destroyed a bright Solanum melongena seedling by mishandling the rootball , or snapped a snap pea stem turn coaxing it out of the pot ? Tragic , I say ! moo-cow pot eliminate those problems .

Think of the possibility if this waste reuse estimation catch on : biodegradable baseball cap , piñatas , picnic baskets , and lamp shade … the list goes on ( at least until my meds kick in ) .
Perhaps I should team up up with the Freund brothers and do a little brainstorming . I ’ve been state I have a very fertile mind .
