Building a greenhouse is exciting, but the real test comes when the cold and snow arrive

If you ’ve been abide by along over the past several weeks , you know we ’ve reached the ending of Cherry Ong ’s serial on her garden greenhouse initiation in Richmond , British Columbia . Now that Cherry has covered every aspect of the decision - qualification and construction unconscious process , she ’s share all of the gardening joys and challenges faced in the seasons since its installation .

Tender Plant Migration in the Fall

ab initio , I had the goal of storing all my tender plants inside but that mean maintaining a higher minimum temperature since I had some tropicals . Tropicals also demand much more humidity so I decided to lay in tropicals inside my home . Thankfully I only had a few .

The greenhouse stored mostly affectionate succulents for the winter . I group and placed consort to how much Sunday they take . Taller single only had one region for placement since it is a galley type warehousing .

First , Second and Current Winter

Outside you could just scarcely see one of Cherry ’s creative vacation swags and a colorful winter container arrangement , but inside the nursery tells a entirely different tale . A beautiful Black Rose aeonium ( Aeoniumarboreum‘Zwartkop ’ , Zone 9–12 ) has no idea about the chilly world just outside their spyglass home .

Winter January 2025 : Much less Charles Percy Snow on the land , but still evenly as exciting to see all those tender plants thriving in the nursery .
