Gardening in the extreme!
Hello , this is Peggy Rupert from Brookings , Oregon , on the sea-coast . You have doubly issue my garden(Giant snapdragon ! , andGardening on the Oregon Coast).I am sending you photo of a friend ’s garden because I believe you and your reader will be as stunned as I am how my booster , Vickie Jewell , 70 days old , gardens !
Vickie and her husband , Steve , chose a beautiful edifice site high up a pine - covered route facing the beautiful blue Pacific ! The only job it posed , after the five years to build , was where to plant the garden . There really was n’t any place for a schematic garden ; the only blank space available was — you estimate it — directly down the slippy hill between their household and the road . So Vickie , not one to give up , had Steve put weighty - duty steel maulers along the top of the mound . Now occur the amazing part ! Vickie ties a lowering forget me drug around her waist , hooks onto the implanted primer maulers , and over the side she kick the bucket ; shelling - powered chain saw in one hand and a small pick in the other . And she ’s not settling for ground cover ! She ’s been establish all kinds of interesting things . Steve also built her a glasshouse halfway down the hill , and a romantic lilt / glider sits perched at the top , perfect for tope a lemonade , admiring the day ’s work , and soaking in the glorious sight of the Pacific .
This house really is rest on the edge of a drop-off .

That drop-off - side site kick in incredible scene .
And there get going Vickie , dangle from a roach , garden away !
A red passion vine(Passiflorasp.)blooms abundantly on the hillside .

YellowCalifornia poppies(Eschscholziacalifornica , annual ) bloom of youth next to a pulpit on the slope .
Angel ’s trumpet(Brugmansia , Zones 8–10 or as an yearly ) show off its vast , yellow , fragrant flowers .
On a degree bit of flat coat , an honest-to-goodness garden cart - turned - plantation owner overflows with yearbook , including variegatednasturtiums(Tropaeolummajus , annual ) .

Vickie plant this beautiful hillside waterfall of impatiens ( Impatienswalleriana , Zones 10–11 or as an annual ) by cut baby’s room pots in one-half and inter them halfway into the hill . She replete the pot with soil and then planted her impatiens in each passel . Genius , right ?
