I ’m not sure I totally grasp the content of the Smithsonian’sArchive of American Gardensbut here ’s what I conglomerate so far , from a talk I heard on the subject and labor into their web site . A big honking appeal of garden photos was donated to the Smithsonian by theGarden Club of Americain 1992 . The nightspot had started the archive back in ’ 87 , and since the transferral , they ’re still adding to the assembling by snap and document contemporary gardens . The collection let in gardens across North America and Europe , both private and public , and many by famous designers .

Not part of the Archives but similar in its quest to conglomerate and preserve stories of America ’s gardening heritage . I heard story - collector David Quick and Kate Fox speak about it atRooting DCthis month , saying they were using President Grant funds from the DC Humanities Council to hire interviewers to hoard mass ’s garden story .
