So , a few month ago , I came up with an approximation for this week ’s CTG : “ soft sculptures . ” My little plan was to counterpoint the spikier forms we ’ve mentioned . I could n’t resist putting this one indesigner Scott Thurmon’shead , since he ’s get a unexampled plant musical theme for every notion . With his list , I ’m sure he and Tom will get some ideas going for you , too . Remember , Scott ’s complete plant list will be on our internet site . And I ’d love to hear what you like to habituate for piano structural carving !
Right now in my garden , I ’m not certain there ’s any structure , diffused or otherwise . To me , it depend like a bounteous stack . And I think of a muckle . former spring - cleaning is not as fun as winter ’s chores , since mosquito and rotten unenviable conditions taxation my skillful intentions before I ’m close to being finished .
But last Sunday was a goody ! I took vantage of the coolheaded breeze and the wet ground , perfect for plucking weeds and runaway runners . I just made a dent in the pruning , but did enough to duplicate the compost pile . sprain with bunny litter , it should heat up nicely .

I feel a small overwhelmed , but am take a “ do what I can when I can ” attitude . Then I ’ll put on blinders and leap into kiddie pool , schedule for “ induction ” this weekend .
The best affair about this transitional time of year is what ’s read up , like Turk cap .
Like usual the past few years , spring meets summertime and fall . In the lair bed , I ’ve got orange mama with a aquilegia that finally get busy .

Although many larkspur are already in an old kitchen wastebasket until I pocket up the seed , these larkspurs recently get in the crape bed .
Philippine reddish blue is already bloom , since it barely freeze back this twelvemonth .
TheDicliptera suberectais flower just in metre for the first hummingbirds in our garden . This is one of the avid growers I ’m shearing yet again this time of year . For me , it does best in a shade / sun mix . In too much ghost , it tends to pine . With a little Dominicus , it get mad .

In the crape layer , I paired my newfangled white ‘ Nymph’Salvia coccineasagainst it and the Dianella ( Dianella tasmanica‘Variegata ’ ) . Wish I ’d gotten ‘ Coral Nymph ’ , but I need a few more , so maybe I ’ll get those to sprinkle in .
The coneflower are pose devout . This one is substantiate a spider web ’s strand , hardy enough to lift a petal .
In the crape bed hobo camp , Pavonia ( rock rose ) sneaks out from under a coneflower that elongate for brightness to get past the fervent pink eve primrose .

Next fall , when the primula emerge , I ’ll thin them out before they take over . Is n’t that like a nurseryman ? First , you want more . The next twelvemonth , you require less .
I suppose that ’s why the “ internet ” was really begin - not the current adaptation that you pay up to access , but the first one that was complimentary - where gardeners who had too much exit it along to someone else who dearly want it .
On passalongs , I want to explore how to propagate my royal umbrella plant life ( Trachelium caeruleum ) , now on its 2nd spring .

In the cat cove , just beyond the Tilia heterophylla rostrum , here ’s my first Buddleja , ‘ Butterfly Heaven ’ .
Even though I feel like I ’ll never view up with the chores , and I know my garden will never be “ fancy , ” it ’s like a terrific surprise to walk out every morning and see what it ’s doing . Despite floods , drouth , hail , and the freeze / estrus swing that get us by surprisal , I ’m always stunned at how tough plants are . Sometimes I fear the body of work , but the payback is always deserving it .
Until next workweek , Linda
