I also found dill weed , bronze finocchio and Petroselinum crispum as food for thought plant for Black Swallowtail butterfly and had many , many caterpillars as well . I planted both flat leaf and curly depart parsley . The butterflies passed over the more attractive curly provide potpourri for the flavorless leaved . You ’ll have to take a really close look to see the Black Swallowtail chrysalis on the parsley exposure . I really wish the foliage of all of these plant in the garden , so I did n’t feel I had to sacrifice aesthetic so as to furnish food for hungry caterpillars . Of course , having a garden that attracts Caterpillar also attracts predatory insects and birdie . Many - a - caterpillar met its Creator before becoming a beautiful , winged wight . ”Gorgeous , Tim !
