“ John and I have last on a 1/4 acre portion in Corvallis , Oregon for 32 years . The first 12 years we mostly raised kids but for the last 20 , we have been garden . Actually , I garden and he humor me by hauling rock-and-roll and compost and digging up big plants that must be moved … again . The rain has start and so I have had time to look back at photos and found a few to deal . I trust you enjoy them . The first two are plants that are still blossom because we have n’t had a backbreaking freezing yet . The hummingbird screw the tender lately , red salvia . I take cutting every fall so there will be some for next year . determine from above , Clematis ‘ freckle ’ flowers are kind of a non - descript off white but if you look up into them , the burgundy speckles are endearing . We built a bench last fall from a piece of Pacific Yew given to us by a neighbour , who harvested it from a dead Yew , which is aboriginal to our Oregon woods . These trees gave up their lives to save Crab affected role when it was discover that Taxol could be made from their bark . Eventually , the pharmaceutic companies figured out how to synthesize the drug and the barque is no longer needed . John establish some blue bottles at the Goodwill and gave them to me for Christmas . They now adorn a route with alstroemeria , triteleia and a Hedgerow ’s Gold shrubby dogwood . The next photo shows white-hot astilbe and ‘ Blackout ’ lilies . I fuck the disconsolate flowers of willow tree gentian and it is a lot easy to grow than most gentian . Next is our ever - diminishing lawn in previous summertime . The net shot is a fiddling , round patio at the top of our mess . My current project is adding a few coniferous tree and prove to write out back on some of the rowdier perennials , hoping to have more time to travel and see other hoi polloi ’s gardens ! ” Nancy Sarpola
