I never imagined living on a homestead with a kapok Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree growing on it , let alone two .
I ’ve now take quite a few pictures of the yoke of kapok trees ( Ceiba petandra ) rise down by the river and ca n’t seem to block up .
The rank size of the tree and the mantrap of its spiky barque inspires me .
The vegetable silk is a utile tree diagram . astonishingly enough , it ’s in the same kinsfolk as hibiscus . Who would have thought that ?

Live oak tree in the South serve the same social occasion as fundament species that host many other being . I ’ve seen oak tree hosting pismire , lizards , bees , gaga orchid , climbing cacti , choker figs , various epiphytic “ melody plants , ” lichens , bolete and chanterelle mushrooms , virginia creeper , yam , beetles , moths and many other flora and fauna that would otherwise be homeless .
That ’s why I urge on my readers inCompost Everything : The Good Guide to Extreme Compostingnot to just view a non - comestible tree as a “ stupid worthless tree ” but to see it as a multi - functional part of a living ecosystem .
In the case of kapok Tree , they’realso utile for many other reasonsbeyond their capacity to host other organism :

Of course , I may move to my ancestral native land of Europe at some point in the future tense . If that fall out , I guess I ’ll just postulate to build a really bounteous greenhouse .
