There are some welcome late time of year surprise in Tim Vojt ’s Ohio garden .
" My garden gets somewhat stock as summer wears on . annual help to keep the show locomote and I do have a few plants that take middle level as the gardening season draw to a finale . Some items storm me by send out out novel leaves and growth , like Rising Sun Cercis canadensis and some of my chinese mayapples . I ’m enjoying castor bean embed again this yr . This is the first year I ’ve tried Ricinus zanzibarensis . They are n’t as big as they could be because I started them late , and you ’ll see that the one I planted on the dimension line did not grow tight enough to keep my neighbour ’s Hosta from frying to a crisp this red-hot summer . I also put in a poor bluestone paver walkway to put back some scrawny grass over Labor Day weekend . The smoke looked ok , but the cutting got into my crushed rock garden every time I mowed , so it had to go ! "
