Love + Joy = Sharon Lovejoy & Dirty Birdie Fun!
When it ’s this hot & icky , what fun to get a rain lily surprise , even when it has n’t rain ! Boo , will it ever again ?
My petty garden team will make it through this misery , despite the 6 p.m. weariness . All spring in the night , which includes Mexican Bird of Paradise ( Caesalpinia mexicana ) .
Mine is from Bob , a dear CTG friend in San Antonio . A few yr ago , he set to get me a seedling he ’d started from his flora ’s seeds . I never met him , but it broke my heart when he choke unexpectedly last fall . His legacy bloomed the first metre this twelvemonth , in his honour , I just know it .

A related plant isSenna(orCassiain its former classification ) . Since this down in the mouth - pee bush / small tree is such a hit with butterflies , a larval food for Cloudless Sulphur butterfly stroke , and drought tough , Daphne makes it her cream of the calendar week .
There are autochthonic specie and others native to our South - of - the - Border neighbour , likeSenna corymbosa , which survives winter just all right atTravis County Extension .
Another accent tree in theFabaceaefamily is Arroyo sweetwood ( Myospermum sousanum ) . aboriginal to Mexico , its springiness flowers provender butterflies , bees , and hummingbird . It ’s deciduous and has never suffered winter legal injury in its Temple garden .

Great hullabaloo this week ! DearSharon Lovejoy(with evenly dear husband Jeff Prostovich)dropped by CTGto enchant us yet again . Do n’t you adore that grin ?
This time , she charms us withMy First Bird Book , filled with contaminating birdie facts , merriment , and hand - on projects to connect children to their Bronx cheer world . Sharon even does a few shuttlecock words for us live on camera !
And make no mistake : even though pitch for fry , Tom and I learned a band ( as you will too ) . We plan to make a few of her projects , like the bird hat wren house . Plus , her Darling River illustration bewitch me over and over again .

Actually , I follow Sharon through her record unconscious process and PRECIOUS illustrations via her blog . fascinate up on herblog , WWW info , and all thing wonderfully Sharon !
June bugs fascinate Kyd , since they can carry them around when their fast days are over . This year , some adult nurseryman have just been pestered to pieces with them .
To manipulate the approaching larvae ( chuck worms),Daphne explains pick and timing . As she tell us , it ’s too belated to moderate in spring when you recover mature grubs at planting time ( other than squishing or throwing them to the birds ) ! They ’re about to be adults . You ’ve got to do it about 6 week after you see the fly grownup , whenthey’ve laid their eggs underground and the larvae crosshatch .

There was a time when my husband and I could n’t go alfresco at nighttime without hundreds batter us . As our wildlife habitat progressed , the universe declined . One toad kinsperson grow really fat on our terrace with a flick of their precise tongue !
Our cool upcycle tip of the workweek : Master Gardener Sheryl Williamsdesigned this easy - to - use of goods and services compost screen from defunct wheelbarrow handles . every bit creative hubby Ed Kimball manufacture it to last forever !
And even though it is n’t on the dot coolheaded flop now , John Dromgoole shows how to keep on planting those vegetablesin protect seed trays . With a little shade , you may plant transplants , like those peppers that always go crazy in autumn .

On circuit , visit the Bulverde / Spring Branch Library butterfly stroke ( and hoot ) garden , where theComal Master Gardenersexcite family to check out more than books .
Thanks for chink in ! Linda
