“ Like many walled garden in the UK , it was leave abandoned after the First World War , when pile of the nurseryman go forth to war and did n’t come home .
“ As there were no longer hoi polloi to do the work , the garden was left to go to ruin .

“ It was rediscover by a lady holler Alison Ticehurst , who pushed open a gate and came across this abandoned garden that was just full of locoweed , nettles and thistle , with no hint of any of the plants that would have been here .
“ The layout is the one thing that is original , so the paths of the garden are the original way and the souse pool in the centre is the original dipping pool . ”

“ We have an iris edge that stretch right from one terminal of the garden to the other , and that ’s just fare into blossom as well now .
“ In that border , they are all bearded irisesand come in an raiment of beautiful colour . ”
