Sempervivum’Oddity ' is a cross precede by American succulent plant enthusiast Sandy McPherson in 1977 . It is purportedly a mutant ofSempervivum×comollii , a naturally occur hybrid betweenSempervivum tectorumandSempervivum wulfenii . Sometimes , it is also considered a mutation ofSempervivum×albidum(synonym ofSempervivum×comollii ) . This hybrid pull in the Sempervivum Society ’s Award of Merit and Bronze Rosette in 1978 .
Sempervivum’Oddity ' , also known asSempervivum tectorum’Oddity ' , is an unusualsucculentthat creates a mat of small rosette of blue - fleeceable leaves with a purple tip . The russet scab grow up to 4 inches ( 10 cm ) in diam . The leaves are recurved to form hollow pointed pipes .

Sempervivums are not difficult to produce , provide they are not waterlogged and killed by excess lacrimation .
