SixOnSaturday

It was a beautiful gay day yesterday , one of those stale , wintry , low sun , racy sky , kind of days . Sadly the prognosis for the weekend is more gloomy , but mostly dry , so adequate horticulture weather ahead . unspoiled job , I have lots to do . Anyhow , time for Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday – could be anything ! A flower , a industrial plant , a shoot , an emerging bulb , a tool , a caper to do , anything at all . connect in !

Here are my Six …

1 . Tomato seedlings . I be intimate I know , it is very early to have sown Lycopersicon esculentum seeds . I just sowed a handful of Sungold seeds , a small experiment . I ’ll have to keep the result seedling and plant in the het bench as it ’s too cold at dark otherwise . My aim is to get some very other yield , in June maybe , well forward of any opening of getting caught by tardy blight – I lose my total craw of tomatos last year , legal profession 1 cherry tree love apple . I ’ll sow in the eternal rest of my tomato seeds shortly , possibly this weekend if I am unable to fend .

2 . Compost thermometer . This was a Christmas present , I ’ve only just convey around to examine it out . This meter reading is from the centre of the Modern passel I made last weekend using the exhausted hops I acquired , along with a lot of paper and visiting card . It ’s warm up nicely , near 30 ° c when the outside temperature was 6 or 7 ° century . It should get a caboodle warm , well over 50 degrees , as the bacterial appendage gets going .

3 . clear plant labels . I get through a lot of these little plastic plant life recording label . I can ordinarily just write over what was there before once or twice but there ’s a limit . I confess I might antecedently have just bin them and bought dainty shiny new I . feel more mindful of my plastic employment these day , I intend I would assay cleaning them . I used a steel genus Pan cleanser , some bleaching agent spray and a bit of elbow grease . It might have been riotous to dunk them in meth but I did n’t have any of that to hand . This work well enough and was at least a warm task .

4 . Mixed seeds from HPS . I have squeal about my source order arrivingseparately , but thought it worth taking a closer feeling at these unity . When dictate germ from the HPS dodging you have the choice of adding a free bundle of assorted seeds to the order . These are source that escaped from their packet at some item . I have no idea what it contain . I have sowed some already , just jumbled up as they came , but have since thought it would be expert to dissever varieties where potential , in event of differing sprouting charge per unit .

6 . tulip in a planter . I have medulla popping up all over the place at the moment , give me some former clues as to the potential effect of the 1000 or so I now have , between planters , pots and independent garden .
