These houseplants pull their weight
Today we take a trip to Joseph ’s indoor garden .
Spring is come eventually , but most of my gardening is still focused on what is happening deep down , so I thought I ’d portion out some of my preferent houseplant occurrent in the indoor garden .
The cactus ladder . I got this former wooden run at a thrift depot , and by placing a few honest-to-god board over the rung , I turned it into a agrestic works viewpoint . It is loaded up with cacti and a few other succulent . Cacti are a good choice because I have two cats that opine they are herbivores . Cacti , however , are not attract to them for obvious grounds !

These little cactus pass the summertime months alfresco love the vivid sunshine , then I bring them indoors for the winter . Once they ’re at bottom , I do n’t water them at all . They just hunker down , stop growing , and wait for spring . Once it warms up , they ’ll go back outside and get a nice beverage of weewee .
One thing I ’ve learned is that plant will tell you what they need if you listen . This small echeveria(Echeveriasp.)is slant and stretching to the window because it is n’t getting enough lighter . I ’ve move it to a gay smirch , so hopefully it will be happier there .
This echeveria , on the other hand , is quite felicitous in its situation next to a big south - facing window , where it gets flock of Dominicus all sidereal day long .

One of my favored plants right now is this slight orchidaceous plant , Paphiopedilum wardii . It has proven to be a very easy houseplant for me , growing and flower gayly on a windowsill with no special care . The flower are beautiful , but even out of bloom , its pattern , mottled foliation makes a large exhibit .
Here ’s another view ofPaphiopedilum wardii . The blooms are very strange , mayhap just a little chip uncanny , but I really relish them ! The elaborateness of the patterned flower petal honor tight inspection .
