Terri’s New Garden Project

A new opportunity to make a beautiful garden

Today ’s photos are from Terri Bennink .

We were not able to really work on the front and side yard , as there was a giant sweetgum tree(Liquidambar styraciflua , Zones 5–9 ) in the easement that was too expensive to take out . It had make significant damage to the driveway . A third of the tree fell into the house during a windstorm , and we quickly seized the opportunity to take away the residue of the tree ( rotting on the interior ) and excavated the entire front and side yard .

I was able to fulfill a pipe dream I had had to put in brickwalkwaysand outmoded iron gates and a small court with afountain . We suffer many neighbors during the project who planned their walking to see the progress we made each calendar week after the tree fell . Here are a few picture . It is a work in forward motion .

Here ’s the “ before ” photo — not bad , but not very exciting .

And here is what it has sprain into ! Terri allege it is a body of work in progress , but it is indisputable progressing well .

And stepping inside , it is a beautiful , formal garden blank . Those chairs look like a stark spot to sit and enjoy the phone of the fountain .

have a step back , you may see thenew plantingsaround the courtyard . And you’re able to see that this is n’t a big region . You do n’t postulate a Brobdingnagian yard to make beautiful garden space .

Abundant , romantic flowers soften the courtly lines of the garden .

Repeatedhedgesand bloominghydrangeas(Hydrangeaarborescens , Zones 3–9 ) unify the space into a harmonious whole .

A garden sculpture is half - hidden by the flush around it .

A romantic former unfolding cherry tree tree ( Prunussp . ) is set off perfectly by the formal hedgerow around it .
