One matter we have n’t speak about much is mulch . I agnise many of you use it for its decorative lineament and to keep weeds under control , but it ’s also a full of life part of grow Garden Roses . It lend to enrich the ground , hold back the root zone moist and at an even temperature , wintertime protection and disease prevention .
Wait , did I say disease prevention ! ?
Yes , I did . About five years ago I bug out to get word from other rose raiser around the country that a mulch of native hardwoods actually seems to inhibit disease in roses . This has been observed in tests by mulch some blush wine with commercial product and some with hardwood mulch from say , a local tree trimming caller . While no one yet seems precisely sure why this is happening the grounds seems to be leaning towards it sour .

And since you postulate to mulch anyway why not use something that seems to keep disease under control ?
grow roses in a sustainable style involve combining many unlike aspects such as choose rosiness that are disease resistant for your area , enriching the soil etc . So let ’s hang one more ornament on our Sustainability Tree .
Check with your local Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree trimming companies , local country agrarian broker or if you have one a local lumber yard . need where their Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree trimmings go , or in the case of the tree trimmers if they ’d be willing to dump their chippings at your family . The latter has worked for me and usually it ’s free !
